Live Migrate a Guest Virtual Machine Between SvHCI Nodes
This article explains how to perform a live migration of a running guest virtual machine between two StorMagic SvHCI nodes. Live migration can be used to perform non-disruptive hardware maintenance, staggered hardware replacements, or SvHCI software upgrades.
Resolution/Information
Scenario
Open the Virtual Machines page to view all running virtual machines on the SvHCI cluster.
Start a continuous ping to the guest virtual machine. In this example, the virtual machine is using IP address 10.10.194.11.
The SvHCI interface automatically refreshes every 10 seconds. During the migration, live migration traffic is transmitted across the Mirror Preferred interface.
After the interface refreshes, the virtual machine is shown running on the destination node while the continuous ping remains uninterrupted, demonstrating a successful live migration with no packet loss.
