This article is intended for administrators wishing to create a 2x node + witness High Availability cluster utilizing Proxmox Virtual Environment (https://www.proxmox.com/en/proxmox-virtual-environment/overview) and StorMagic SvSAN (https://stormagic.com/svsan/).
This document details a method of trialing Proxmox hypervisor and an existing virtualization platform, namely VMware vSphere. This may be due to lack of hardware, to save time or to simply make it easier.

Creating nested Proxmox VMs in ESXi
If nesting on VMware please follow the below:
Create 2x VMs to become our nested proxmox nodes
Guest OS Family – Linux
Guest OS Version – Debian GNU/Linux 11 (64-bit)
including passing up virtualization (Expose hardware assisted virtualization to the guest OS)
setting disk.EnableUUID = TRUE

Installing Proxmox VE
Install using the Proxmox ISOs

Following the network setup on Proxmox-and-SvSAN-HA-cluster-Part-2 please change the mode on bond0 from balance-tlb to active-backup to accomodate for nested networking and promiscuous mode.
Please ensure Promiscuous mode is enabled on your underlying vSwitches
