This article is intended to provide an example for administrators wishing to leverage SvSAN using direct attach cabling. Other configurations may also work.
Resolution/Information
SvSAN fully supports back to back or direct attach cabling in both a 2x node or a 3x node environment.
2x node

Example 2x node IP Schema
HOST 1 | HOST 2 | ||
---|---|---|---|
Purpose | IP address | Purpose | IP address |
Host 1 management connection (Hostname: host1.example.com) |
10.1.100.11/24 |
Host 2 management connection (Hostname: host2.example.com) |
10.1.100.12/24 |
Host 1 storage connection 1 | 192.168.1.1/24 | Host 2 storage connection 1 | 192.168.1.2/24 |
Host 1 storage connection 2 | 192.168.2.1/24 | Host 2 storage connection 2 | 192.168.2.2/24 |

3x node
In a 3x node the networking becomes more complicated so is detailed below:

Example 3x node IP Schema
HOST 1 | HOST 2 | HOST 3 | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Purpose | IP address | Purpose | IP address | Purpose | IP address |
Host 1 management connection (Hostname: host1.example.com) |
